Virtual Vocation Day – Saturday, June 26, 2021

UPDATE: Our Virtual Vocation Day went very well; for information on future vocation events, see our Vocation Retreats page.

Could God be calling you to become a cloistered Dominican nun?  We give ourselves to Jesus through Mary in a consecrated life of community, liturgical and private prayer, study and work, animated by zeal for souls, at the heart of the holy preaching of the Dominican Order.  Our monastery keeps Eucharistic Adoration and Perpetual Rosary, and a love for our tradition of Dominican chant in Latin. As Dominican nuns, we are devoted to keeping the Word of God in our hearts so it may bear fruit for the salvation of souls.

Who can attend the Virtual Vocation Day?

  • Are you a single, practicing Catholic young woman between the ages of 16 and 27?
  • Are you considering a religious vocation?  (Are you drawn to a life dedicated totally to God and the salvation of souls?  Are you asking, “O Lord, how can I dedicate my life to You?”)
  • When you see the information on our website, do you think, “I’d really like to learn more about this community in particular”?

When will the next Virtual Vocation Day take place?  Our next Virtual Vocation Day will be Saturday, June 26, 2021.  On Saturday, we will begin the first live session around 9:45 am Central Time.  The final live session will be Compline (Night Prayer), which will conclude around 9:00 pm Central Time.

What will the Virtual Vocation Day be like?  We will share our life through Zoom talks and recreation with the nuns, through video liturgy (you can join us singing the Divine Office), and through a real-life vocation packet, along with suggestions for personal prayer and monastic practices for the times in between our online events.  Further information and a pre-recorded talk will be available before Saturday, in order to help you enter into the retreat day as a time of prayer. (You should also read our Vocation Retreats page to see what we aim at in our normal retreats.)

How do I sign up?  Request to attend by filling out our Vocation Inquiry Form.  If there is time, we will send you a vocation packet in the mail — otherwise we can provide digital materials.

Am I able to visit in real life?  Yes, those interested in getting to know us further may have the opportunity to come for individual discernment visits at the monastery.

What if I have already attended a Vocation Day? Please feel free to request to join us again! While we will be talking about our Dominican monastic life and about religious vocations, there is always something new, and it is a good opportunity to spend time with the Sisters and with God in prayer.

If you know someone who may be interested, please share! May Our Lady guide you and keep you!
